THE GREAT ABANDONMENT OF FAITH:  THE APOSTASY!

We stand at a pivotal point in history in which a plot to cut the chords of faith from masses of Christians will succeed.  Millions, hundreds of millions of professing Christians will and are rejecting their faith in Jesus Christ.  Out of the multitudes of people that say that Jesus is their Lord, only a scarce few are actually ready to meet their Master.  We are now in the “falling away”, the “apostasy” or abandonment of the faith in Christ!

Jesus said that many would fall away.  Many would believe false prophets and false christs.  Many will say, “Lord, Lord, didn’t I eat and drink in your presence and you taught in our streets?”  Then, Jesus will pronounce, “I don’t know from where you came, go away from me you workers of lawlessness”. (Luke 13:25-27)  Others will believe they knew Jesus by their “religious” activities, and again, Jesus said He would proclaim, “Away from me, I never knew you--you lawless one”. (Matthew 7:21-23)

Scripture proclaims that there will be those who fall away from the faith by giving in to seducing spirits and false teachings. (1Timothy 4:1)  There is a great sway of civilizations away from God and into rebellious iniquity that causes the hearts of many to grow cold. (Matthew 24:12)  There is great complacency in the “Christian” churches.  Luke warmness.  But Jesus said He would rather have a person ‘hot or cold’.   The “lukewarm”, He says He will spew from His mouth! (Revelation 3:14-22)

Some will fall away due to persecution or affliction for the Word of God.  Others fall away because of the things of life choke out the word. (Matthew 13:18-23)  Some religious people will fall away because God has given them a spirit of blindness.  Their professing faith and love of God is just TALK. (Isaiah 29:10,11,13-14)   Remember a religious system that believed in God, Messiah and the Scripture executed Jesus Christ and persecuted His apostles and saints.  Why?  Because they did not love God, or else they would receive the one that comes in His name.  They did not have the Word of God abiding in them, or else they would believe the one God sends.  They do not know what God is saying or doing.  So, they persecute the few little ones of the Lord that do listen to His voice.  There will be people forsaking their faith because they do not love the truth and God will give them over to believe a lie. (2Thessalonians 2:10-12)

My concern today is the multitudes of people that will be lost.  I have been rereading the book of Revelation.  I am struck by the fact that the whole world will worship the coming leader known as the “beast”.  He is empowered by the Dragon and the Great Serpent the Devil--A power that comes from the underworld known as the “abyss”.  At first, he creates a peace scenario in the Middle East.  The day comes when he will cause an identification system, which is necessary to buy or sell.  The thing is, if one participates in this Beast system they become an enemy of God and will burn in great fire with all of the other haters of God.  This man will claim to be god.  He will demand worship.  You won’t be able to buy food. (Revelation 13-18)  What about your family?  What are you going to do?  Well?  What will you do?  Can you trust God to provide?  Can you believe for the impossible?  If you can’t now, how will you believe in the coming unprecedented days of catastrophic judgment of God? (Matthew 24:21)

Is the alarm being sounded in your “church”?  Do you hear the call to prepare for the return of Christ on TV or the radio?  Probably not.  Yet, some are reporting that the world is often noting the unusual events of these days.  You might not hear the mega churches recognizing the signs of the times but you may hear a broadcast on the Discovery Channel airing “Armageddon Week”.  Amazing!  God has used donkeys before to rebuke His erring people…Remember Balaam?

True Story.  During the weeks of the disastrous hurricanes Rita and Katrina, I was begging pastors of local churches to heed the call of the Spirit to prepare the people for what is coming.  I pleaded, “Please stop the ‘church as usual’ and cry out before the Living God.  These are the days of Judgment!”  I told pastors the people are not ready for what is coming!  But no.  They could not respond to me.  They behaved as if I was talking about new dish soap.  But the same night I pleaded with a pastor along these lines I saw at the gym a TV monitor with CNN displaying a banner on the screen that read “STATE OF EMERGENCY”.

Its true.  I was repeatedly invited to come to the Jesus party at the church.  Come to the Halloween party.  I wanted to throw-up.  It’s wrong.  If you don’t quite see the apathetic apostasy of these days I challenge you to do the following:

1.      Pray before the LORD.

2.      Call a list of 10 churches in your area.

3.      Ask to speak with a pastor.

4.      Don’t justify your call by some natural strength, affiliation, accomplishment etc.  Just come humbly in the name of Jesus.

5.      Tell them you believe that God is coming forth to judge.  Get the people ready for what is coming.  Persecution, apostasy, betrayal, and judgment.

Out of the ten you call, how many appreciate the words as true?  How many just think your nuts?

Jesus marveled about the religious system in His day…You hypocrites--you can tell the signs of the weather, but you can’t discern the times and signs of the times…(Luke 12:54-56)
