The Key
Issue
1/16/2011
By Trevor Davis
We can talk about many
things. Many things that are important
and relevant; but the most important thing to discuss is the most pinpoint issue
that must be recognized right now; and that is, the fact that God Almighty is
absolutely outraged and full of fury and He will unleash His anger without
restraint or dilution of any kind. We
are talking about full-bore wrath and power of God so mighty and profound. Who will not fear the LORD and give Him
glory?
Why? Why is God so mad? Why is God so upset? You
might say, “I thought God was love, and that He is merciful, and that we are
under grace. Grace? Mercy?
Yes, God is full of mercy and full of kind compassion. But there is a big “but”.
God is merciful and offers
grace to those who repent of their sins.
We cannot ‘continue to sin that grace may abound’. As apostle Paul said, “God
forbid!”
Rom 6:1-2 This is what people do not understand. People have been encouraged by the religious
culture to be as they are and continue to sin as long as they are financially
involved with the “church”.
The Key Issue that the
Spirit of God is showing me to speak to the world is that He is angry. He is judging not only the United States,
but also all the nations of the world.
He is furious. Nahum 1:2 God is
angry because He has provided the solution for sin by giving His only begotten
Son that whosoever would believe on Him would not perish, but have everlasting
life. John
3:16 But, for the most part, the majority of the
masses, including the religious people of Christianity, have refused to repent
sincerely.
God said in Jeremiah 10
that He will judge the earth in His wrath and the earth will tremble. The nations will not be able to abide His
indignation. The absolute pure power of
God will be released in such vehement fury that the nations will not be able to
handle it. Shouldn’t people be told
this? Shouldn’t so called prophets and
bible teachers tell the people the certainty of these things so people can
repent while they can?

|
But the LORD [is] the true God, he [is] the living God, and an
everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the
nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

It is important to
understand why God is so angry.
How can one present the gospel if they do not understand this? The gospel is good news. The good news is that God has provided a way
to turn away His fury through His only begotten Son. Jesus is this way--the only way.
The wrath of God is already upon unbelievers. John 3:36
The wrath of God is upon the disobedient. Romans 1:18 Colossians 3:6 The peace of God is with
those who have repented and have faith and obedience in Jesus. This is the dividing line.
I encourage you to read
Hebrews 10. This is a letter to the
historical religious people of Israel.
It was written to the “Hebrews”.
The writer discusses the blessedness of the New Covenant that is
established through Jesus the Son of God.
It explains that the way into the “holiest” has been made through the
offering of the flesh of Jesus. Hebrews 10:19 Those who believe now have a ‘new and living way’
as the old covenant and its ways are put away. Hebrews 10:9 ; Hebrews 10:20
Hebrews 10 shows the
blessedness of this New Covenant that Jesus purged our sins once and for all
and sat down at the right hand of God.
He is expecting until His enemies be brought to His footstool. Hebrews 10:12-14.
However; and this is the
key point here, there is a woeful warning stated by the Spirit of God that all
must heed.
Hebrews 10: 6For if we sin wilfully after that we
have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for
sins, 27But a certain fearful looking
for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour
the adversaries.
28He that despised Moses' law died without
mercy under two or three witnesses:
29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought
worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath
counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy
thing, *
(*unholy thing=common http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G2839&t=KJV
)
and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth
unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his
people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into
the hands of the living God.
That was a reading from the New Testament ladies and gentlemen. According to this text, there is a certain—fearful—looking for—judgment—and fiery indignation--, which shall devour—the adversaries. This is very powerful language that absolutely should make you tingle.
Furthermore, this text
documents that there is a worse punishment than that under the Old Covenant of
Moses Law wherein the disobedient died without mercy with two or three
witnesses. Again, there is grace and
mercy to those who are in godly sorrow repentance and abide in faith in Jesus
Christ. But, to continue in sin makes
one a liar set for great woeful judgment at the hand of God. Jesus has warned that at the end of the age
His angels shall gather together those who offend and do iniquity and they
shall be burned by fire forever. Mat 13:41
The key issue here is that
God has provided the way of righteousness by faith. He has provided the way of peace with God. He has provided a way of forgiveness, grace
and mercy but He requires repentance and putting away the evil ways of the
flesh. All of this and every good thing
before God is always accomplished through Jesus Christ our Lord. But, those who will trodden under foot the
Lord Jesus by casually disregarding Him and choosing sin rather than
righteousness shall drink the cup of wrath from God without any lessening of
its bitterness.
This text continues to
declare that judgment shall come for those who consider the blood of the
covenant in Jesus a common and unholy thing shall find themselves at the
vengeful hand of God. Even those who
have done all of this in despite to the Spirit of grace, these shall partake of
the vengeance of God as He repays for this great evil. Yes, it is a fearful thing to fall into the
hands of the Living God. Surely, the
Lord does judge His people yet alone those who are not.
As we continue to press
towards the end of this age and the fulfillment of all things written in the
scriptures, we shall see the wrath of God manifested. Jesus said His coming and the end of the age would be as it was
in the days of Noah. Luke 17:26 God flooded the earth with great waters destroying
all living things except those in the ark with Noah. God warned Noah by faith.
God warned Noah about things that were unprecedented, yet Noah moved in
fear and prepared the ark to the saving of his household. Hebrews 11:7
You as you read this
message are either enjoying the peaceful abiding in the glorious liberty that
is in Jesus, or, you are at risk of experiencing the wrath of God without
measure. Do you respect Jesus? Do you honor the shedding of His blood that
has made a new and living way to stand before God? Are you honoring the Spirit of grace by honoring God’s precious
gift of His only begotten Son?
I urge you today to
consider these things. This is the key
point. This is the key issue.

Ephesians 4: 17This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye
henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life
of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their
heart: 19Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto
lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20But ye have not so learned Christ; 21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as
the truth is in Jesus: 22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man,
which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness.
25Wherefore putting away lying, speak
every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the
sun go down upon your wrath: 27Neither give place to the devil. 28Let him that stole steal no more: but
rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good,
that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29Let no corrupt communication proceed
out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may
minister grace unto the hearers. 30And grieve not the holy Spirit of
God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and
anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32And be ye kind one to another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath
forgiven you.
Galatians 2:20I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I
now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and
gave himself for me
