Scripture
on the place of the Law of Moses for believers in Jesus Christ,
and, the joining of all nations, bloodlines and peoples
as
one new man in Jesus Christ at
the cross.

Acts
15:1And
certain
men
which came down from Judaea
taught the brethren,
and
said,
Except
ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be
saved. 15:2When
therefore Paul
and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them,
they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of
them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders
about this question. 15:3And
being brought on their way by the church, they passed through
Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles:
and they caused great joy unto all the brethren. 15:4And
when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the
church, and of
the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God
had done with them. 15:5But
there rose up certain
of the sect of the Pharisees
which believed,
saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command
them
to keep the law of Moses.
15:6And
the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this
matter. 15:7And
when there had been much disputing, Peter
rose up, and said unto them, Men and
brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice
among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of
the gospel, and believe. 15:8And
God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them
the Holy Ghost, even as he
did
unto us; 15:9And
put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts
by
faith. 15:10Now
therefore why
tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples,
which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 15:11But
we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we
shall be saved, even as they.
15:12Then
all the multitude kept silence,
and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles
and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
15:13And
after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men
and
brethren, hearken unto me:15:14Simeon
hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to
take out of them a people for his name. 15:15And
to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is
written, 15:16After
this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of
David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the
ruins thereof, and I will set it up: 15:17That
the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the
Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who
doeth all these things. 15:18Known
unto God are all his works from the beginning of the
world. 15:19Wherefore
my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the
Gentiles are turned to God: 15:20But
that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of
idols, and from
fornication, and from
things strangled, and from
blood. 15:21For
Moses of
old time
hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the
synagogues every sabbath day. 15:22Then
pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to
send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and
Barnabas; namely,
Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the
brethren: 15:23And
they wrote letters
by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren
send
greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch
and Syria and Cilicia: 15:24Forasmuch
as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have
troubled you with words, subverting
your souls, saying, Ye
must
be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such
commandment: 15:25It
seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send
chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and
Paul, 15:26Men
that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 15:27We
have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you
the same things by mouth. 15:28For
it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no
greater burden than these necessary things; 15:29That
ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and
from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye
keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
Deuteronomy
18:15The
LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst
of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him
ye shall hearken; and,
18:18I
will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like
unto thee, and will
put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all
that I shall command him. 18:19And
it shall come to pass, that
whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak
in my name, I will require it
of him.
Acts
3:22For
Moses truly said unto the fathers, A
prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your
brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things
whatsoever he shall say unto you. 3:23And
it shall come to pass, that
every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be
destroyed from among the people.
Acts
7:37This
is that Moses,
which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the
Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me;
him shall ye hear.
Romans
7:1Know
ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how
that
the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 7:2For
the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her
husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she
is loosed from the law of her
husband. 7:3So
then if, while her
husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be
called an adulteress: but
if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she
is no adulteress, though she be married to another
man. 7:4Wherefore,
my brethren, ye also
are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye
should be married to another, even
to him who is raised from the dead,
that we should bring forth fruit unto God. 7
Galatians
3:17And
this I say, that
the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the
law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot
disannul,
that
it should make the
promise
of none effect. 3:18For
if the inheritance be
of the law, it
is
no more of promise: but God gave it
to Abraham by promise. 3:19Wherefore
then serveth
the law? It was added because of transgressions, till
the seed should come to whom the promise was made;
and
it was
ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 3:20Now
a mediator is not a
mediator
of one, but God is one. 3:21Is
the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if
there had been a law given which could have given life, verily
righteousness should have been by the law.3:22But
the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that
the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them
that
believe.
3:23But
before
faith came,
we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which
should afterwards be revealed. 3:24Wherefore
the law was our schoolmaster to
bring us
unto Christ, that we might be justified
by faith. 3:25But
after that faith is come, we are no longer under a
schoolmaster. 3:26For
ye are all the children of God by
faith
in Christ Jesus. 3:27For
as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on
Christ. 3:28There
is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there
is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ
Jesus. 3:29And
if ye be
Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise.
Romans
4:1What
shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the
flesh, hath found? 4:2For
if Abraham were justified
by works, he hath whereof
to glory; but not before God. 4:3For
what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was
counted unto him for righteousness. 4:4Now
to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of
debt. 4:5But
to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth
the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 4:6Even
as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom
God imputeth righteousness without works, 4:7Saying,
Blessed are
they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are
covered. 4:8Blessed
is
the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 4:9Cometh
this blessedness then upon the circumcision only,
or
upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith
was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
Galatians
3:1O
foolish
Galatians, who hath bewitched
you,
that ye should not
obey the truth,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth,
crucified among you? 3:2This
only would I learn of you, Received
ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of
faith? 3:3Are
ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made
perfect by the flesh? 3:4Have
ye suffered so many things in vain? if it
be
yet in vain. 3:5He
therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh
miracles among you, doeth
he it
by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3:6Even
as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness.
Galatians
2:21I
do not frustrate
the grace
of God:
for if righteousness come
by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Galatians
3: 1 O
foolish
Galatians, who
hath bewitched
you,
that ye should not
obey the
truth,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth,
crucified among you? 2 This
only would I learn of you, Received
ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of
faith? 3 Are
ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made
perfect by the flesh? 4 Have
ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. 5 He
therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh
miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by
the hearing of faith?
6 Even
as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness. 7 Know
ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the
children of Abraham. 8 And
the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen
through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying,
In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So
then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For
as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for
it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all
things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But
that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is
evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And
the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall
live in them. 13 Christ
hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse
for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on
a tree: 14 That
the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through
Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit
through faith.
15 Brethren,
I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's
covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or
addeth thereto. 16 Now
to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not,
And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which
is Christ.
17 And
this I say, that the
covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law,
which was four hundred and thirty years after,
cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none
effect. 18 For
if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but
God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 Wherefore
then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions,
till the seed should come to whom the promise was made;
and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20 Now
a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21 Is
the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if
there had been a law given which could have given life, verily
righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But
the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by
faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But
before
faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith
which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore
the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we
might be justified by faith. 25 But
after that faith is come, we are no longer under a
schoolmaster. 26 For
ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For
as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on
Christ. 28 There
is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there
is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And
if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise.
Hebrews
7:11 If
therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for
under it the people received the law,) what
further need was there that another priest should rise after
the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of
Aaron? 12 For
the
priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity
a change
also of the law.
13 For
he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe,
of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For
it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe
Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And
it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of
Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who
is made, not after the law of a carnal
commandment,
but
after the power of an endless life.
17 For
he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of
Melchisedec. 18 For
there is verily a disannulling
of the commandment going before for the
weakness and unprofitableness
thereof.
19 For
the
law made nothing perfect,
but
the bringing in of a better hope did;
by the which we draw nigh unto God. 20 And
inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest: 21 (For
those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath
by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent,
Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
22 By
so much was Jesus made a surety
of a better
testament.
Hebrews
8: 6 But
now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much
also he is the mediator of a
better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For
if
that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place
have been sought for the second. 10 For
this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their
mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a
God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And
they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his
brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the
least to the greatest. 12 For
I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and
their iniquities will I remember no more. 13 In
that he saith, A new
covenant, he hath made the first old.
Now that which decayeth
and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews
9: 8 The
Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of
all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle
was yet standing: 9 Which
was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered
both gifts and sacrifices, that could
not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the
conscience;
10 Which
stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal
ordinances,
imposed on them until the time of reformation.
Hebrews
10:
7 Then
said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of
me,) to do thy will, O God. 8 Above
when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and
offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure
therein; which are offered by the law; 9 Then
said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He
taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By
the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the
body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Ephesians
2:
(11 Wherefore
remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who
are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the
Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 That
at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of
promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But
now
in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by
the blood of
Christ.) 14 For
he is our peace, who hath made both
one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between
us;
15 Having
abolished
in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained
in ordinances;
for
to make in himself of twain one new man,
so making peace; 16 And
that he might reconcile both
unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity
thereby:
17 And
came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them
that were nigh. 18 For
through
him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now
therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but
fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Colossians
2:
11 In
whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without
hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the
circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried
with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through
the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the
dead. 13 And
you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your
flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you
all trespasses;
14 Blotting
out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which
was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to
his cross;
Romans
4:
1 What
shall we sa.y then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to
the flesh, hath found? 2 For
if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory;
but not before God. 3 For
what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was
counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now
to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of
debt.
5 But
to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth
the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even
as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom
God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying,
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins
are covered. 8 Blessed
is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 9 Cometh
this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the
uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to
Abraham for righteousness. 10 How
was it then reckoned?
when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in
circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 And
he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the
righteousness of the faith which he
had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be
the father of all them that believe, though they be not
circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them
also: 12 And
the father of circumcision to them who are not of the
circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith
of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13 For
the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not
to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the
righteousness of faith. 14 For
if they which are
of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made
of none effect:
15 Because
the
law worketh wrath:
for where no law is, there is no transgression. 16 Therefore
it
is of faith, that it might be by grace;
to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to
that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the
faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
Galatians
4:1Now
I say, That
the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a
servant, though he be lord of all; 4:2But
is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the
father. 4:3Even
so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the
elements of the world: 4:4But
when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son,
made of a woman, made under the law, 4:5To
redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the
adoption of sons. 4:6And
because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son
into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 4:7Wherefore
thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an
heir of God through Christ.
4:8Howbeit
then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by
nature are no gods. 4:9But
now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God,
how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto
ye desire again to be in bondage? 4:10Ye
observe days, and months, and times, and years. 4:11I
am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
4:12Brethren,
I beseech you, be as I am;
for I am
as ye are:
ye have not injured me at all. 4:13Ye
know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel
unto you at the first. 4:14And
my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor
rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even
as Christ Jesus. 4:15Where
is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record,
that, if it
had been
possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have
given them to me. 4:16Am
I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the
truth? 4:17They
zealously affect you, but
not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect
them. 4:18But
it
is
good to be zealously affected always in a
good thing,
and not only when I am present with you. 4:19My
little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ
be formed in you, 4:20I
desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for
I stand in doubt of you.
4:21Tell
me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the
law? 4:22For
it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a
bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 4:23But
he who
was
of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the
freewoman was
by promise. 4:24Which
things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the
one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is
Agar. 4:25For
this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem
which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 4:26But
Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us
all. 4:27For
it is written, Rejoice, thou
barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that
travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than
she which hath an husband. 4:28Now
we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of
promise. 4:29But
as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that
was born
after the Spirit, even so it
is
now. 4:30Nevertheless
what saith the scripture? Cast
out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman
shall not be heir with the son of the free woman. 4:31So
then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of
the free.
Galatians
5: 1 Stand
fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us
free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold,
I Paul say unto you, that if
ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For
I testify again to
every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the
whole law. 4 Christ
is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified
by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For
we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by
faith. 6 For
in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor
uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
1Timothy
1:
1 Paul,
an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our
Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 2 Unto
Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from
God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As
I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou
mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
4 Neither
give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister
questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
5 Now
the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and
of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6 From
which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
7 Desiring
to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say,
nor whereof they affirm.
8 But
we know that the law
is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing
this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the
lawless and disobedient,
for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for
murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For
whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for
menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be
any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
11 According
to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed
to my trust.
Romans
2:
25 For
circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if
thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made
uncircumcision. 26 Therefore
if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall
not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? 27 And
shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the
law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost
transgress the law? 28 For
he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that
circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But
he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of
the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise
is not of men, but of God.
Hebrews
10:
15 Whereof
the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had
said before, 16 This
is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,
saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in
their minds will I write them; 17 And
their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now
where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the
blood of Jesus, 20 By
a new
and living way,
which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to
say, his flesh; 21 And
having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let
us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our
bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let
us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for
he is faithful that promised;) 24 And
let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good
works
Philippians
3:
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the
same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you
it is safe. 2 Beware
of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. 3 For
we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and
rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4 Though
I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man
thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I
more: 5 Circumcised
the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the
tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the
law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning
zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which
is in the law, blameless. 7 But
what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8 Yea
doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency
of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have
suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung,
that I may win Christ, 9 And
be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of
the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the
righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That
I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the
fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his
death; 11 If
by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Corinthians 3:
1 Do
we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others,
epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from
you? 2 Ye
are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch
as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ
ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the
living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the
heart. 4 And
such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not
that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of
ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who
also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the
letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit
giveth life. 7 But
if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was
glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly
behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which
glory was to be done away: 8 How
shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For
if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the
ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For
even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by
reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For
if that which is done away was glorious,
much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing
then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And
not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of
Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is
abolished:
14 But
their minds were blinded: for until this day
remaineth
the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament;
which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But
even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their
heart.
16 Nevertheless
when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now
the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty. 18 But
we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the
Lord, are
changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the
Spirit of the Lord.
Romans
6: 1 What
shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may
abound? 2 God
forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer
therein? 3 Know
ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death? 4 Therefore
we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we
also should walk in newness of life. 5 For
if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we
shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing
this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin
might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For
he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now
if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with
him: 9 Knowing
that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath
no more dominion over him. 10 For
in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he
liveth unto God. 11 Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive
unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let
not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey
it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither
yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the
dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For
sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the
law, but under grace. 15 What
then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under
grace? God forbid. 16 Know
ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of
obedience unto righteousness? 17 But
God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have
obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you. 18 Being
then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I
speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your
flesh: for
as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to
iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to
righteousness unto holiness. 20 For
when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What
fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for
the end of those things is death. 22 But
now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have
your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For
the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans
7:
Know ye not, brethren,
(for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath
dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 2 For
the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband
so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed
from the law of her husband. 3 So
then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man,
she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she
is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be
married to another man. 4 Wherefore,
my
brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of
Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is
raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5 For
when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the
law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6 But
now
we are delivered from the law,
that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in
newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. 7 What
shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not
known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the
law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But
sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner
of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For
I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came,
sin revived, and I died. 10 And
the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto
death. 11 For
sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it
slew me. 12 Wherefore
the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
13 Was
then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin,
that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is
good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
14 For
we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under
sin. 15 For
that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but
what I hate, that do I. 16 If
then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it
is good. 17 Now
then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For
I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:
for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is
good I find not. 19 For
the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not,
that I do. 20 Now
if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that
dwelleth in me. 21 I
find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with
me. 22 For
I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But
I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my
mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in
my members. 24 O
wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this
death? 25 I
thank God through Jesus Christ
our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but
with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans
8:
1 There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free
from the law of sin and death. 3 For
what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for
sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That
the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For
they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but
they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For
to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is
life and peace. 7 Because
the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to
the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So
then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But
ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the
Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of
Christ, he is none of his.
10 And
if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the
Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But
if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in
you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken
your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore,
brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the
flesh. 13 For
if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the
Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For
as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For
ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye
have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba,
Father.
16 The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the
children of God: 17 And
if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with
Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together. 18 For
I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For
the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For
the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by
reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because
the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of
corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For
we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain
together until now. 23 And
not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of
the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for
the adoption, to wit, the redemption of
our body. 24 For
we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what
a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But
if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for
it. 26 Likewise
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we
should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And
he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the
Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to
the will of God. 28 And
we know that all things work together for good to them that love
God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For
whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to
the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brethren. 30 Moreover
whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called,
them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also
glorified. 31 What
shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be
against us? 32 He
that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how
shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who
shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that
justifieth. 34 Who
is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is
risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh
intercession for us. 35 Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or
sword? 36 As
it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay,
in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. 38 For
I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to
come, 39 Nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
Romans
9: 1 I
say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me
witness in the Holy Ghost, 2 That
I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For
I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my
brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: 4 Who
are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory,
and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of
God, and the promises; 5 Whose
are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came,
who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. 6 Not
as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For
they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 7 Neither,
because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but,
In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That
is, They which are the children of the flesh, these
are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are
counted for the
seed.
9 For
this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah
shall have a son. 10 And
not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by
our father Isaac; 11 (For
the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or
evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand,
not of works, but of him that calleth;)
12 It
was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 13 As
it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 14 What
shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 For
he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So
then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but
of God that sheweth mercy.
17 For
the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have
I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my
name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore
hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he
hardeneth.
19 Thou
wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath
resisted his will? 20 Nay
but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the
thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me
thus? 21 Hath
not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one
vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What
if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known,
endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to
destruction: 23 And
that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of
mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even
us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the
Gentiles? 25 As
he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not
my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. 26 And
it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto
them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the
children of the living God.
27 Esaias
also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children
of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For
he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness:
because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. 29 And
as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a
seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
30 What
shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after
righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the
righteousness which is of faith. 31 But
Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not
attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore?
Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works
of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33 As
it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of
offence: and whosoever believeth
on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans
10: 1 Brethren,
my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might
be saved. 2 For
I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge.
3 For
they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves
unto the righteousness of God.
4 For
Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that
believeth.
5 For
Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That
the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
6 But
the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not
in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring
Christ down from above:) 7 Or,
Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ
again from the dead.) 8 But
what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in
thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved. 10 For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For
the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be
ashamed. 12 For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same
Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How
then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and
how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how
shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And
how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How
beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,
and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But
they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who
hath believed our report? 17 So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But
I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all
the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. 19 But
I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you
to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I
will anger you. 20 But
Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me
not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. 21 But
to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands
unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
Romans
11: 1 I
say then, Hath
God cast away his people? God forbid.
For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe
of Benjamin. 2 God
hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what
the scripture saith of Elias?
how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying, 3 Lord,
they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I
am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But
what saith the answer of God unto him? I
have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the
knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even
so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to
the election of grace. 6 And
if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no
more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace:
otherwise work is no more work.
7 What
then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the
election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 (According
as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes
that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;)
unto this day. 9 And
David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a
stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: 10 Let
their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their
back alway. 11 I
say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid:
but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles,
for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now
if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the
diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more
their fulness? 13 For
I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the
Gentiles, I magnify mine office: 14 If
by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh,
and might save some of them. 15 For
if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what
shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? 16 For
if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root
be holy, so are the branches. 17 And
if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild
olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of
the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast
not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the
root, but the root thee. 19 Thou
wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be
graffed in. 20 Well;
because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by
faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For
if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also
spare not thee. 22 Behold
therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell,
severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his
goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And
they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed
in: for God is able to graff them in again. 24 For
if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature,
and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how
much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed
into their own olive tree?
25 For
I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery,
lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in
part
is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come
in.
26 And
so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come
out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from
Jacob: 27 For
this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As
concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as
touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
29 For
the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. 30 For
as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained
mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even
so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they
also may obtain mercy. 32 For
God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy
upon all. 33 O
the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For
who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his
counsellor? 35 Or
who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him
again? 36 For
of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be
glory for ever. Amen.
SABBATH/Rest
in Jesus Christ
Hebrews 4:1Let
us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us
of entering
into his rest,
any of you should seem to come short of it. 4:2For
unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the
word preached did not profit them, not
being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 4:3For
we which have believed
do enter into rest,
as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into
my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of
the world. 4:4For
he spake in a certain place of the seventh day
on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his
works. 4:5And
in this place
again, If they shall enter into my rest. 4:6Seeing
therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and
they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of
unbelief: 4:7Again,
he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long
a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden
not your hearts. 4:8For
if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have
spoken of another day. 4:9There
remaineth therefore a rest
to the people of God. 4:10For
he that is entered into his rest, he also hath
ceased from his own works, as God did
from his.4:11Let
us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall
after the same
example of unbelief.
Romans
14:1Him
that is weak in the faith receive ye, but
not to doubtful disputations. 14:2For
one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak,
eateth herbs.14:3Let
not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him
which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received
him. 14:4Who
art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he
standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able
to make him stand. 14:5One
man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day
alike.
Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 14:6He
that regardeth the day, regardeth it
unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he
doth not regard it.
He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and
he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God
thanks. 14:7For
none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 14:8For
whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die
unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the
Lord's. 14:9For
to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might
be Lord both of the dead and living. 14:10But
why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought
thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of
Christ. 14:11For
it is written, As
I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every
tongue shall confess to God. 14:12So
then every one of us shall give account of himself to
God. 14:13Let
us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this
rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in
his
brother's way. 14:14I
know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there
is
nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to
be unclean, to him it
is
unclean. 14:15But
if thy brother be grieved with thy
meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy
meat, for whom Christ died. 14:16Let
not then your good be evil spoken of: 14:17For
the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and
peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 14:18For
he that in these things serveth Christ is
acceptable to God, and approved of men. 14:19Let
us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and
things wherewith one may edify another. 14:20For
meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are
pure; but it
is
evil for that man who eateth with offence. 14:21It
is
good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any
thing
whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made
weak. 14:22Hast
thou faith? have it
to thyself before God. Happy is
he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he
alloweth. 14:23And
he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he
eateth
not of faith: for whatsoever is
not of faith is sin.
1John
3:
2 Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like
him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And
every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he
is pure. 4 Whosoever
committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the
transgression of the law. 5 And
ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him
is no sin. 6 Whosoever
abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him,
neither known him. 7 Little
children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is
righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He
that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from
the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever
is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him:
and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In
this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the
devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he
that loveth not his brother. 11 For
this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we
should love one another. 12 Not
as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And
wherefore slew
he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's
righteous. 13 Marvel
not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 14 We
know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the
brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15 Whosoever
hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer
hath eternal life abiding in him. 16 Hereby
perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:
and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But
whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and
shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the
love of God in him? 18 My
little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but
in deed and in truth. 19 And
hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our
hearts before him. 20 For
if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and
knoweth all things. 21 Beloved,
if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And
whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And
this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his
Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And
he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him.
And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he
hath given us.
John
8:
34 Jesus
answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever
committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And
the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth
ever. 36 If
the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed.
John
15:
The Vine is Jesus Christ: Believers are branches of the same
nature.1 I
am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every
branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every
branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth
more fruit. 3 Now
ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide
in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in
me. 5 I
am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in
him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do
nothing. 6 If
a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is
withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and
they are burned. 7 If
ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye
will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein
is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my
disciples. 9 As
the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my
love.
10 If
ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have
kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These
things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full. 12 This
is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater
love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends. 14 Ye
are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
John
13:
(Love is the sign of being a believer) 34 A
new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I
have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By
this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love
one to another.
John
15:
17 These
things I command you, that ye love one another.
Jesus
Christ on the role of the Law of Moses: Matthew
22:35 Then
one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting
him, and saying, 36 Master,
which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus
said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This
is the first and great commandment. 39 And
the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself. 40 On
these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Romans
13:
10 Love
worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling
of the law.
Colossians
3:
9 Lie
not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with
his deeds; 10 And
have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the
image of him that created him: 11 Where
there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision,
Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
Romans
2:
25 For
circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou
be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Therefore
if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not
his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? 27 And
shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law,
judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the
law? 28 For
he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that
circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But
he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of
the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is
not of men, but of God.
The
Gospel
1Corinthians
15:
1 Moreover,
brethren, I declare unto you the
gospel
which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and
wherein ye stand; 2 By
which also ye are saved, if ye keep
in memory what I preached
unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For
I
delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,
how that
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And
that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according
to the scriptures:
5 And
that he
was seen
of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After
that, he was
seen of above five hundred brethren at once;
of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are
fallen asleep. 7 After
that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And
last of all he was seen of me also,
as of one born out of due time.
